Rapunzel: The Musical (2008)

This witty musical is a tongue-in-cheek retelling of the Rapunzel, a story we all know and love.   This version gives us a possessive mother who happens to be a witch, a tentative young man who happens to be a prince, and a strong-willed but naive young girl with the longest hair you're ever likely to come across.  When the prince arrives in the tower he announces, “I’m here to rescue you.” Rapunzel replies, “From what?”

The prince tells her she must be rescued from the witch but Rapunzel can barely suppress a laugh when she explains that she doesn’t need to be rescued.  “That witch was my mother. I live here.”  This fairy tale isn't going to be business as usual.
