March 25-April 11, 2010
Directed by Peter Kappler

Adapted by Edward Mast. Winner of AATE Distinguished Play Award.

Jungalbook uses a child’s intense world of playfulness, loyalty, adventure and betrayal set on a jungle gym.  Though related to the Disney film of similar title, the play is adapted directly from various Mowgli stories and poems written by Rudyard Kipling in his Jungle Books

Jungalbook is a coming of age story about the lonely “man cub” Mowgli.  He is a human child growing up in the Jungal, raised by wolves under the guidance of Baloo the bear. The tiger Sherakhan killed Mowgli’s parents and wants the boy's flesh, but Bagheera the lone panther protects him. Mowgli grows up wild and unconcerned, believing he's a wolf; but the Tiger works long and hard to poison the wolf pack against him. With rope stolen from the human village, Mowgli meets and destroys Sherakhan; but his use of "man thing" has broken Jungal Law. Mowgli must choose whether to defy the Law or leave the Jungal forever.
